Nature Club : Activities Held in Campus
  • Ecological Audit of the campus has been done to understand flora, fauna and environment of the campus.
  • Tree Plantation programme

    The Deccan College Nature Club organized "Tree Plantation Programme" on the occasion of "Van Sanvardhan Din" (23rd July 2014) and planted important plants by the hands of Honourable Vice Chancellor Prof. V. S. Shinde in the campus. The Teachers, students and support staff of the institute were also present during the programme.

    The number of plants such as Ficus benghalensis L. (Wad), Ficus racemosa L. (Umbar), Ficus religiosa L. (Pimpal), Delonix regia (Boj. ex Hook.) Raf. (Gul–mohor), Citrus aurantifolia (Christm. & Panz.) Swingle (Nimbu), Michelia champaca L. (Champa, Kud–champa, Pivla–champa, Son–chapha), Mitragyna parvifolia (Roxb.) Korth. (Kadam), Saraca asoca (Roxb.) de Wilde (Ashok), Lagerstroemia reginae Roxb. (Taman), Phyllanthus emblica L. (Avla), Tectona grandis L. (Sag), Terminalia catappa L. (Badam), etc. were planted on this occasion. These are the plants of oxygen banks and keep environment pure and clean. Some of the medicinal plants were also planted on the occasion.



  • Bird Boxes: The bird boxes are fixed on the walls and other places accessible only to birds.
  • Know Your Campus/Nature Walk:

    The Deccan College Nature Club had organized a program, "Know Your Campus (KYC)" at 2.30 pm on Saturday, 26th July 2014 for staff and students of the University. It was conducted with a view to introduce Deccan College campus environment, conservation and protection of biodiversity on the campus. Teachers, students and support staff of the university were also present. Honourable Vice Chancellor Prof. V. S. Shinde addressed the occasion.



  • Exhibition: On the occasion of Revival Day, the Nature Club hosted a few displays of posters showing the diversity of plants and birds in Deccan College Campus.
