Certificate Course in Sanskrit Language Learning - Introduction

Concept

Sanskrit is one of the oldest language in the world. As the name suggests it is a refined language. The oldest literature in the world is the Veda written in Sanskrit. Sanskrit has been the formal language used for writing works in science, literature, art, philosophy, religion, inscriptions etc. In short it is the gateway to the store of immense knowledge. Most of this knowledge remains out of reach for those who are not well-versed in it. There is a need for a course that teaches this language both grammatically as well as functionally. The Course is also necessary for interdisciplinary research in varied fields such as linguistics, archaeology, history, culture, science and so on.

Course Objectives

  • It aims at teaching of Sanskrit language through basic grammar.
  • Participants will be able to understand and generate simple Sanskrit sentences at the end of the course.
  • They will develop the ability to comprehend basic Sanskrit text books.

Duration: Six Months 
Eligibility: Graduate in any discipline from any recognized University approved by the UGC. The selection of the candidates for this course will be on the merit basis.

Course Days: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 
Course Time: 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. 
Course Fees: Rs. 3500/-
Credit: 5 credits 
Examination: The evaluation of this course will be done as per the University rules. 75% attendance is required to appear for the examination. The evaluation process consists of written examination and internal assignments.
